What is the “go to” ingredient in your fridge when it comes to preparing creamy dressings, marinades, dips and sandwich spreads? Will it be yogurt or mayonnaise?
Which is a Staple in Your Fridge-‐-‐Yogurt or Mayonnaise?
Plain yogurt is a “Beyond The Mediterranean Diet” miracle ingredient, which can be used to replace mayonnaise in many of your favorite recipes. The end result is delicious and nutritious!
- Plain yogurt mixed with herbs makes a great marinade.
- Yogurt tenderizes and keeps lean meats and poultry moist!
- Stay away from aluminum cookware when cooking with yogurt because the acidity reacts poorly with the metal.
- Use this recipe as a substitution for mayonnaise: 1/3 cup plain nonfat yogurt + 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard + 1 teaspoon paprika + freshly ground black pepper and a pinch of sea salt
